Mayne Island is one of the prime areas for kayaking in the Gulf Islands. Kayaking around Mayne Island has easy access to some kayak hot spots like Gulf Islands National Park Reserve, The Belle Chain and Red Islets, Cabbage Island, Galiano Island and more.

Mayne Island is a popular bike destination that can be done in a half day, but because of the marine scenery plan you will no doubt need more time. Cycling the narrow roads with no traffic sounds makes biking the loop roads enjoyable. Mayne Island has many little beach access areas to rest and sit back.
Hiking and Walking
Mayne Island has 14 hiking and walking trails. The trails range from short seashore-beach access walking trails to some forest hikes like Mount Parke Park. All hiking trails on Mayne Island are enjoyable with none of them too hard.
Bird Watching
Many species of birds enjoy the tranquility of Mayne Island. The mild climate and the abundant green space draws many different marine birds to the area. Often one can see Bald Eagles, Blue Herons, Robins, Hawks and many different species of Humming Birds.
Boating and Sailing
The many coves and inlets around the island of Mayne are ideal for boat moorage. The protected bays and shallow waters make it easy to find a cove to anchor in for the night. Marine wildlife viewing is part of any Gulf Islands sailing trip. Whales, seals, and sea lions can be seen in the Gulf Islands area. Make plans well in advance for boat charters.

Mayne Island is a relaxing getaway with many areas to wander and get lost in your thoughts. Many come to Mayne Island to simply stroll out to the lighthouse and read a book or walk along the beaches to view the marine wildlife.
Island Hopping
Mayne Island is located in the middle of the southern Gulf Islands. It often acts as a base camp for multi-day trips as it is a convenient island to launch day trips to Saturna, Galiano, Pender and Saltspring Islands.
